Advanced
Metering Infrastructure (AMI) - Using economics and technology
to modify consumer
behavior and manage demand. The price elasticity of demand can be used to shave peaks and avoid
building new generation facilities. Just give the consumer time-of-use
costs so that they can shift consumption.

Continental
SuperGrid - So AMI is good for the most efficient use of existing generation, but since US
consumption is expected to rise at a steady pace more generation will be
needed. The SuperGrid is one proposal to meet our energy demand. Often
called ambitious, it uses nuclear generation as the centerpiece to provide energy
and hydrogen as fuel.

Shortage
of Utility Workers - For years, we have been hearing that math, science and technology jobs are at a
premium because of the shortage of trained workers. Some speculate
that workforce shortages will be the most serious problem faced by electric
utilities over the next decade. Now is the time to design and implement a
workforce plan for your utility.
